Just Luke

There was no Leia, no Remus, no Ashley in there. Not two, not three, but one.

One perfectly normal, perfectly healthy (as far as ultrasound can tell) little kid, snuggling against my back and doing somersaults to frustrate the ultrasound technicians.

A boy.

Hello, boy.

Yay for healthy, yay for a boy! I was a little excited for you about twins, but this is definitely good. Better than good. WONDERFUL. Yippeeee!

Twins would have been wonderful, of course. But the being of only one means you can actually get out of the house without help (both before and after birth).

It also means silence and calm when (if) the baby sleeps.

And it means less brainwashing work for me. Perfect!

Oh, man. I'm late to the party. I was totally going to use the "there can be only one" line, too. I really need to get on the ball.

Anyway, congratulations! And welcome, little bearer of XY chromosomes! Glad he and mama are both well, even if he's doing gymnastics on your spinal column. I think that's just preparation for his final routine, which involves multiple back-handsprings on your bladder.
